Latest data on faith and work

14 Apr, 2025

Speaking at the 2nd annual Faith@Work Summit, 29 April, London, top experts on workplace culture will discuss the latest data on faith and work.

Emma Pace, Partner and Chief People Officer at Baringa Partners, will hold a fireside chat with Professor Binna Kandola OBE, Business Psychologist, Senior Partner and co-founder of Pearn Kandola. Over the past 35 years, Binna has worked on a wide variety of projects for public and private sector clients both in the UK and overseas.

Professor Kandola will share insights gains from Pearn Kandola’s Antisemitism and Islamophobia at Work (2024) report and their their groundbreaking Religion At Work (2023) report. The 2024 report is a comprehensive study in which over 1000 Muslim and Jewish employees participated, either through in-depth focus groups or their survey, to shine a light on their experiences of antisemitism and Islamophobia in the workplace since October 7th 2023. The 2023 report, the largest of its kind, explored the experiences of people of faith in the workplace, highlighting the difficulty for employees of any religion to express their faith at work.

His latest book, Designing for Diversity, describes how some of the initiatives undertaken in the name of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) don’t help to achieve meaningful change and may in fact hinder progress towards fairer and more effective organizations.

Belonging, Belief & Britishness: Exploring the British Muslim Experience on Their Own Terms

  • When: 10th April, Thursday
  • Time: 1:00-1:30pm UK / 7am ET
  • Zoom: Register here

Join the UK Faith@Work network this Thursday for a fascinating presentation by Rania Mohiuddin-Agir, Research Associate with the Institute for the Impact of Faith in Life (IIFL), on their report that examines the diversity of British Muslims and the relationships they have with Britain today. The study combines quantitative and qualitative analysis, based on a poll of 815 adult British Muslims commissioned by IIFL and conducted by Whitestone Insight (a member of the British Polling Council), as well as a series of interviews with a smaller sample of British Muslims, who were asked about the findings of the survey and wider topics.

The objectives of this study were two-fold. Firstly, the report highlights the varied perspectives within British Muslim communities, allowing them to share their personal experience of Islam and the way it impacts their identity and social ties. Secondly, the report informs anyone seeking to understand the contribution of British Muslims to wider society and some of the key issues which shape Muslims’ daily lives in Britain.

She has completed a BA in International Relations from King’s College London, and an MSc in Sociology and Global Change from the University of Edinburgh. These findings come from Pew Research Center’s 2023-24 Religious Landscape Study (RLS) and other Center polling. Learn more about the study at pewresearch.org/rls.
